[Subject Line] Basic rights do not belong on an election ballot

I just took action to support marriage equality in Massachusetts - and to help stop the Massachusetts Legislature from putting the basic rights of same-sex couples at risk on an election ballot. I am writing to ask if you would help support equality, too.

On June 14th, legislators will vote on a discriminatory amendment that seeks to take the right to marry away from same-sex couples. If more than 50 legislators vote for the amendment, it will go on the November 2008 ballot, putting the rights and protections of gay and lesbian citizens and their families at risk.

We need to do everything we can to keep that from happening. Please contact your legislator today by going to http://www.massequality.org/action/start.php and ask them to vote NO on the anti-gay amendment.

You can also go to www.MassEquality.org to learn more and find out how you can help.

Equal marriage rights are important to me, so I hope you can spare a moment or two today to help.

Thank you,
