Authentic Selves
Mass Equality is proud to announce that we have partnered with Family Diversity Projects (FDP), a national non-profit devoted to helping eliminate prejudice, stereotyping, and bullying based on sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, race, national origin, religion, and disabilities of all kinds, to bring the traveling photo-text exhibit, "AUTHENTIC SELVES: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary People and their Families" to your museum, community center, school, library or gallery.
Authentic Selves is a compelling look at both the challenges and the triumphs of remarkable trans and nonbinary people, and their families that was developed in collaboration with PFLAG National and Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund
At a time when censorship, division, and near-daily attacks on diversity initiatives and marginalized groups are escalating, the need for authentic representation, dialogue, and inclusion is more urgent than ever. Hosting an exhibit is a simple yet powerful way to foster community, counter hate, and inspire advocacy.
“From Love Makes a Family to Authentic Selves, I have counted on educational resources from Family Diversity Projects in my LGBTQ+ faith and social justice work for decades. I cannot imagine doing this work in faith communities, campus ministries and theological schools without these extraordinary resources. In the midst of this current wave of political and legislative attacks upon transgender children and their families, I am grateful for the arrival of the Authentic Selves book and traveling photo-text exhibit.

“Family Diversity Projects touches people young and old with their ground-breaking exhibitions and books, which have educated thousands of people about the moral equality of LGBTQ people and their families… The exhibits help to reduce discrimination and bullying of all people who are perceived to be ‘different,’ leading to safer environments for LGBTQ children and adults. Simply put, the exhibits are unique tools in the fight to dismantle homophobia and transphobia.”
